AG: Blackstone ‘Town Polling Day’ Can Happen

Blackstone can go ahead with Town Polling Day to help determine the fate of the Harris Memorial Armory. That’s the opinion of the state attorney general’s office, which said it knew of no law that would prevent the town from taking such an informal survey. The office says as long as there is no voting that binds Town Council to take any specific action, there shouldn’t be a problem. Using the community survey as a template would save the town about $11,000 as opposed to spending money on holding a formal referendum.
